Hello, everyone!
I hope you enjoyed last week's class! I had a lot of fun. :)
This week on September 4 (9/4), we will be talking about books and stories! You will answer questions such as the following: What is your favorite book? What kinds of books do you like? Do you read often? First, we will talk about genres in groups, and then we will discuss the history of the novel. What was the first novel? Who wrote it? Is the Tale of Genji a novel? We will also talk about the differences between Japanese and Western literature (style, subject matter, concepts, characters, etc.). So that everyone can participate, I will go over key words and phrases you should know when talking about literature.
I want everyone to bring at least one book to share with the class. Introduce the book to us. Please answer these questions: What's the plot and why do you think we should read it? Why do you like it? Have you read it more than once?
At the end, we will also talk about books being made into movies. Is this a good thing? What do you think about it?
A reminder: Hattie will be coming to the classes from now on. Also, please email me your opinion about dividing the class before Wednesday.

先週の英会話クラスを楽しみましたか？:)
９月４日のトピックは「本とストーリー」になります！一番好きな本は何のか、どんな本が好きのか、小説を読んでいるか、色々な質問に集中します。まずは、みなさんはグループでジャンルや小説の歴史についての話をします。世界で最初の小説は何でしょうか。その小説は誰によって書かれたかを知っていますか。源氏物語は小説ですか。日本文学と西洋文学の違いを比べたいと思います（スタイル、主題、概念、キャラクターなど）。また、文学に関する重要な単語や表現を復習しましょう。
みなさん、本を一冊（二冊でもいいよ！）持ってきてください。その本を紹介してほしいです。プロットは何のか、なぜその本を読んだ方がいいと思うか、なぜその本が好きのか、何度も読んだことがあるか、こういう質問を答えてください。
最後に、本が映画になるという現象について話したいと思います。この現象はいいことですか。みなさんはどう思いますか。
お知らせ：ハッティ（先の英会話教師）はこれから英会話クラスへ来るはずです。ところで、先のポストに書いた通り、クラスを分けることに対する意見をメールしてください。
