10/22 Topic: Halloween!

Howdy!

Thank you for yesterday's class about monsters!  I hope you enjoyed it.  There are so many interesting monsters and legends.

For next week, I'd like to talk in more detail about the history and traditions of Halloween.  Please think about the following questions: Why was Halloween created?  Why do we carve pumpkins and make jack-o-lanterns?  Why do children receive candy?  What is "trick or treat"?

Announcement: For our class on October 29, I'd like to do a Halloween cooking lesson.  I haven't decided yet what we will make, but it will probably be cookies/sweets.  I will tell you more details next week on October 22.  If you can, please wear Halloween costumes on October 29!  I will wear a costume too. :) Let's celebrate Halloween together!

モンスターについての話をありがとうございました！みなさんも楽しみましたか。たくさんの面白いモンスターや伝説がありますね。

来週、ハロウィンの歴史と伝統についてもっと詳しく話したいと思います。次の質問をよく考えてください。ハロウィンは何のために作られましたか。なぜかぼちゃを彫ってjack-o-lanternを作りますか。なぜ子どもはお菓子をもらいますか。trick or treatとはどういう意味でしょうか。

お知らせ：１０月２９日はハロウィンクッキングクラスをしたいと思います。何を作るかまだ決めていないのですが、たぶんクッキーやお菓子になるかもしれません。来週詳しく説明します。また、みなさんができれば、ぜひハロウィン衣装を着てきてください！私も仮装しますよ。:) 一緒にハロウィン祝いましょうね。
